Dec. 2003 - Reserve a puppy from this Degen x Sable litter! by John

Born Dec. 7th to G*Ingo Degen von Fernheim kklII (Lbz.) SchHIII,IPO1,FH2,CDX,TD (G*Kujo vom Spezialblut kklII SchHIII,IPO3,CD,HCT x Hodenhof's Jette von Fernheim SchHI,CDX,TD,HT) x Sable Koda von Jagerstadt CD,CGC,TT,HT, OFA P-good,elbow neg -trained thru Utility and will be entered for her CDX as soon as she is fit again - (Amigo von den Vier Maüsen - SWAT dog, Narc. certified, AD, BH x SG*Panja vom Haus Sommerlade kklII"a" SchHIII.) Both parents are OFA good, negative elbows and Degen has produced many OFA excellents.

We are expecting high working, pack and ball drive with very solid temperaments and good health. Degen was known as a producer of many offspring who went on to title in Schutzhund, HGH, AKC obedience, herding, tracking and agility and who worked as Guide Dogs, other service dogs, SAR, K-9 etc. Sable has produced progeny working in SAR (two are FEMA certified), arson detection, patrol work and AKC performance events.

Although Degen is alive and well at 12 1/2 this is the last time a litter will be for sale to the "general public" as all the rest of his frozen semen is owned by Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

We are happy to announce that Foxy and Randy have been bred and the litter is due in Dec.! Foxy is a 2,3 breeding on Ingo Degen von Fernheim Sch 3, IPO 1, FH, CDX, TD #1 sire of GSD for the past three years.

We suggest early reservations on these puppies as we expect puppies that are capable of S/R, Obedience, Agility and Arson/Narcotics type dogs.

We expect Black/Reds and from this breeding with good structure.

Working the Dogs by Yvette

Lots of stuff happening lately at the Jagerstadt Kennels:

Sable earned her CD with three consecutive shows while pregnant and with highest GSD in trail. She passed her GS temperament test with ease, plus her CGC.

Randy was tested for herding instinct and did very well. He's now working towards his herding titles, using the local flock of chickens for practice.

Gretl, a daughter of Sable, at 15 months has been certified as Search
and Rescue, with OFA-P good.

Rosie, a daughter of Sable, at 14 months has been certified as Search and Rescue, with OFA -P good.

Misha a daughter of Sable, is a working service dog in the New York area.

Seiko von Jagerstadt was Arson certified at 18 months, OFA -P Good.

Sheba von Jagerstadt got certified as a Narcotics dog at 17 months, OFA -Fair.

Inka is now VCD2 (CDX TD OA OAJ) AX BH, with OFA good.

Rip von Jagerstadt, we're happy to report, passed his OFA hip (Good) and elbows.

Sasha von Jagerstadt came in better, with OFA Excellent. That'a way!

The German Shepherd Dog by Yvette

The German Shepherd has long been considered the epitome of the dog world. The German Shepherd conjures up images of a dog who has an inherited knowledge of what is right and wrong, who is capable of tending livestock while taking care of his family and a guardian who is naturally devoted to his master. Yet with all these wonderful qualities, we presently find that many modern German Shepherds are lacking in temperament, health and basic fundamental drives. How is it possible that a breed that was once held in such high regard has had such a precipitous decline?
